ProSafeMed – For safe medical devices and procedures

The ZIM (Central Innovation Programme for SMEs) promoted international cooperation network consists of companies and research institutions of different branches and knowledge areas. The network partner are located in Germany and Poland. The aim of the international network is to develop transnational technically innovative medical devices as well as treatment methods. In particular through the intelligent exploitation of new opportunities in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT) and ultrasound technology. The new developments should enable better diagnoses and individualized therapies as well as reduce side effects and increase patient and user safety.

In addition to the development of high-performance medical devices, the network partners should also be supported in fulfilling the far-reaching safety standards in the field of medical technology in order to ensure successful commercialization.

Especially the new published Medical Device Regulation (MDR) in May 2017 has tightened the requirements for medical device manufactures on the European market. The cooperative realization of innovations should support in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) to meet the increased safety requirements resulting from market and legal specifications, thus helping them to ensure and expand their international competitiveness.
